 Besides looking at the dimensions of the intercoolers, the area from the flow direction is important as this is the area in which we have the air flowing to cool the element.

Also the flow-area through the intercooler element is important – since this has impact on the flow restriction of the intercooler. Flow restriction will show as pressure fall through the intercooler, meaning less efficiency of the flow the turbochargers produce.
